What is diaper need?

A lack of sufficient diapers to keep a child healthy, clean, and dry.

How much of a difference do diapers really make?

In a study in Connecticut, they showed that for every $1.00 of diaper aid provided, caregiver incomes rose $11.00!

How does providing free diapers help break the cycle of poverty?

Without enough diapers, parents are unable to send their children to daycare and consequently miss work. When they’re not working, they can’t make the money they need to afford the diapers they need to send their child to daycare. it’s a vicious cycle that you can help break!

Don’t state subsidized daycares provide child care and diapers for free?

No. Most state funded daycares still require the parents to pay a portion of the fees. They also require the parent to send an appropriate number of diapers each day — typically 6 per child, per day.

Diapers are often on sale. Why don’t parents in need just stock up when they’re cheaper?

These families are generally living from paycheck to paycheck and don’t have the disposable income available to stock up during sales like many middle-class families.

How can I help?

Every little bit helps! Even just $10.00 buys almost a full box of diapers.

Is my donation tax deductible?

Absolutely! As a registered 501(c)3, any monetary donations are fully tax deductible.

Can I donate extra diapers from my own kids?

We welcome diaper donations of any size! Even if you just have one diaper left in a size your child outgrew seemingly overnight, we’re happy to take it!

How do I donate diapers?

You can drop off your diapers at the parish office of Mansfield St. Peter Church or any branch of Mechanics Bank. If these locations don’t work for you, please send us an email and one of our volunteers will coordinate a pickup.

How can I volunteer my time?

I am currently experiencing diaper need. How do I get help?

Diapers will be available at St. Peter’s Feed the Needy, which is from 3-4 pm on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of every month except December. Diapers are also available at The Salvation Army.

I am experiencing another financial difficulty. How can I get help?

About Us

Why Diapers?

About a year ago, Jewell and Lara realized they shared a dream they had both held for several years, but never voiced out loud – to support mothers and families experiencing diaper need. They were both shocked to find out that WIC and SNAP funds cannot be used to purchase diapers or wipes. Once they said the dream out loud, they set out to make it a reality. It’s truly been a family affair with Matt, Lara’s husband jumping in to help when he found out about the plan, and Ben, Jewell’s husband, was always there to offer advice and support.

Meet the Board of Directors

Jewell Weiss

President

Jewell raised two daughters as a stay-at-home mom and is now the proud grandmother of 6 granddaughters. She works part-time at Mechanics Bank in HR and cares for her two local grandchildren as the “granny nanny” several times a week. She enjoys visiting her grandchildren in Cincinnati many weekends, hanging out with her St. Bernard, Fergie, and spending quality time with her husband Ben – often cooking special dinners together at home.

Lara Ashley

Vice-President and Secretary

Lara is a mom of two beautiful daughters, one in preschool and a rambunctious toddler. Her diaper days are not yet behind her and she is passionate about finding ways to help mothers who may be struggling. She works full-time as HR and Talent Acquisition Manager for the Supply Chain division of Mattress Firm. She loves spending time with her daughters playing at the park, swimming, and baking.

Matt Ashley

Treasurer

Matt shares his two precious girls with Lara. He enjoys his career with Mechanics Bank and loves to read and watch foodie TV in his spare time. He can usually be found cooking after work and having his hair done by two cute stylists before bedtime.
